KMAC Couture

2014

For her second KMAC Couture show, Megan was inspired by the idea of abandoned electronics such as cassette tapes, VHS tapes, and CD’s. Her original intention was to illustrate what they might look like in a landfill today. Megan submitted three conceptual sketches with her proposal attached, and the committee helped her hone in on one design. She was hard at work on her first dress when she received a phone call from committee member Elizabeth Dodd, who asked if Megan would be interested in creating a look for the local Louisville business Bourbon Barrel Foods. She had two weeks to finish the abandoned media afterlife dress and to create a completely new look out of food labels. Megan was so excited and nervous at the same time, and she somehow managed to pull everything together. She was once again impressed by her model Jessica Vautard who nailed the runway in the Abandoned Media Afterlife dress and the hat fabricated by milliner Sarah Havens. Megan was thrilled to work with local model Pascale Cross who wore her Bourbon Barrel Foods Label dress with charm and elegance. This has been her favorite show so far, and she was pleasantly surprised by the publicity her dresses received.  Show Clips - Today's Women (pg.53)
